Day +81

Hi Everyone, well today was pretty quiet again. I wasn't feeling very well so I slept a bit in the morning and another bit in the afternoon. I've been feeling sick all day too and I got a bit sick last night cos my blood pressure went up and I had to take disgusting medicine which made me throw up :-(. I had a bit of a fever so my antibiotics have been changed again. Amanda or Paula wasn't in today so me and Mum watched a DVD called Music and Lyrics, then I had a shower. In the afternoon I watched come dine with me and friends. The new medicine I'm on is constant tranfusion so I'm always attached to my machine and we have to drag that into the bathroom for a shower with us, its a bit of a pain. I've been up and down to the loo all day today too. Last night wasn't too bad, I was up about 6 or 7 times. Some of blood counts have gone up a bit but my platlets and HB (red blood cells) dropped again. I had to have two blood tranfusions and a platelet tranfusion today. My counts today are platelets 6.9, white cells are 0.5 and neutraphils are 0.24. Mum brought over my playstation and Singstar we tried to play it today but the microphones we have here won't work! We were going to have a singing competition. The doc said today they might keep me on my new medicine a little while longer, I got a bit upset cos I can't eat or drink and I have real hunger pangs sometimes. They are having a big meeting tomorrow so we'll know by tomorrow afternoon the plan of action. Am tired now so gonna try to sleep. Thanks everyone for your comments I really look forward to reading them. They cheer me up! Nite nite lots of love Naoise xxx

  1. Hi Naoise,
Sorry for not writing for a few days. You have had a pretty rough day. We are so sorry to hear that. Lets hope the doctors come up with a really good plan of action tomorrow! I hope you don't have to stay on that new medicine for too long so you can start eating and drinking again. You poor pet. I don't have a whole lot of news here. Luke and I watched 'Monsters Inc' on DVD today. It was his first time seeing it. He loved it and I think he was hoping that 'Sully' might come out of his wardrobe tonight. No such luck! Vincent took Greg to Smyths this afternoon (after much begging) to spend some of his Communion money. He bought two new 'Ben 10' aliens. They are from the cartoon serious (popular with boys mainly). Ross tagged along and went into Lifestyle and bought himself a Real Madrid jewsey which was reduced, so he's happy too. I remember seeing 'Music and Lyrics' and enjoying it. I hope you did. That's a real pain that your microphones for Singstar wouldn't work. I hate that when you have a plan and then something won't work. I hope someone can sort that out for you. Ross and Greg wanted to share the same bedroom this weekend so we put a mattress down on Ross' floor for Greg. They chatted for ages both nights. Luke went into Greg's bed for a change and told us it was too 'itchy and noisy'...very strange bed! It was like 'musical beds' here this weekend. We hope you can get some sleep tonight Naoise. We think about you every day. We hope tomorrow is a better day for you. I'll write soon again.

Heaps and heaps of love always,
Margaret, Vincent, Ross, Greg and Luke

  2. Hi Naoise,
So sorry to hear you've been sick today! Sounds like such a pain to be hooked up all day too. Maybe tomorrows meeting will bring some positive changes for you.

It's nice to know our comments cheer you up! We'd all so love to be able to help so its good to feel our little posts help in some small way.

It was very grey here today so we didn't get up to much. We went to St. Anne's for a while, it was really quiet there today, it was like every one was having a duvet day.

Have you found a replacement yet for Hells Kitchen? I hope you do, I only know the days of the week by the different programmes I watch. If it's Grey's Anatomy it must be Wednesday, LOL!

Night, night pet. Lots of love always, Paula xx

  3. Hi Naoise

I'm really sorry you were sick today and had to have all those transfusions and more antibiotics. Like Paula said, hopefully tomorrow the Doc's will give you a good plan. Fingers crossed for you.

We had a busy weekend meeting my sister's new inlaws. They were all very nice. My brownies were a disaster, so was Jacks banana bread but Caoimhe's fairy cakes were a hit with their shocking pink and blue icing!

We were going to meet Bridge & Aine today at the zoo but your cousins here were tired and cranky after a late night last night so we gave it a miss. Just as well as the weather wasn't great.

We haven't met baby Zoe yet. Jack I think is the most excited about meeting her - he loves babies! I mentioned to Cormac last night as he collapsed into bed that we might go and see her today and he just grumpily rolled over and said "Don't talk to me about that now, I'm too tired!" So I guess he can take or leave new babies - even cousins!

I can imagine not being able to eat is so frustrating - usually I find when you can't eat that that is when all you can think about is food. I hope tomorrow they can give you good news on that. I actually miss reading about all your weird and wonderful meals!

Today was my Dad's birthday but we were all partied out after having lots of cakes etc yesterday so he didn't get a birthday cake today. Donncha usually loves to say happy birthday but without a cake he just wasn't bothered. And Cormac going to bed tonight was concerned about whether his grandda had "got a new number or not". I eventually realised that that meant he wasn't sure if he'd moved up one year in age since he didn't have a cake. If it were that easy I'd have given up birthday cakes at 29!

It's late here Naoise, so I'd better go to bed. As I send this I hope you are fast asleep in Newcastle and that tomorrow is a better day. With you in my thoughts all the time. Lots of love, Aisling

  6. Hi Naoise,

Im so sorry i havent posted in a few days, but Nana has been keeping me updated. My internet in my apartment is not working again, it hasnt been working for a few days. Hopefully it will be back working soon, im just in work now using their internet.

Thats terrible that your feeling sick honey, I really hope your tummy feels a bit better soon. Im so sorry that you cant eat or drink much because of your new medicine. That must be awful, If i havent eaten for a few hours food is all i can think about! Once your allowed eat again, you should eat loads of lovely things!

Thats good that your getting a little bit more sleep than you were. Thanks for posting your bloods progress everyday, its great that we can all follow it.

Thats a pity your microphones are not working for your singstar, can you still use you wii sing? I have never had a go on singstar or wii sing, i cant sing at all so its probably for the best that i havent!

I went to the park with baby Zoe and Kiel on sunday and i saw Zoe again yesterday in Nanas house. She is gorgeous, so tiny. I also saw your Daddy and Aine yesterday in Nanas house.

Take care pet. Miss you. Lots of love,

  7. Hi, Naoise, you are having such a tough time - it must be horrible not to be able to eat when you actually want to. We are praying that your gut will heal- there really is hardly a moment when we are not thinking of you and praying so hard that you will feel better soon.
I'm sure you heard that Riceal ran off to Scotland & married her boyfriend Paul in Edinborough before Christmas - well as there had been no reception for everyone to meet at, we had everyone for Sunday dinner. It was a great to meet all the McDermotts but we were all exhausted the next day - which was a pity as Niall's birthday was on the 4th so we are going to have a groupie party as there are lots of May birthdays.
Aislings brownies, Jack's banana bread. Caoimhe's fairy cakes & Cormac's brown bread were a great success on Sunday so pay no attention to what Ais told you!
Say hi to your Mum & Dad for us.
Lots of love & big hugs, Sleep tight, Patricia & Niall
