Day +50

Hi all, I can’t believe that I’m at day +50, this is a long hall. Last night was crap. I used Lisa’s sleeping spray but it didn’t stop me waking up every hour for most of the night, so by morning time I was wrecked. I had another toastie for breakfast, it was a cheese, ham and tomato sauce, but dad put too much cheese on it and it wasn’t great! Teacher came early and we finished my Easter basket and made a card – thanks to teacher for getting up really early to bake my Easter basket – I love it. The morning was full of nurses, doctors and medicines – as usual. For dinner I had some potatoes and carrots with gravy and watched a dvd called ‘Angus, thongs and perfect snogging’ – not one for a Dad!, but I loved it. Later Claire came in and we did some exercise. I’m on a lot of steroids which have caused my ankles to swell so I wasn’t too keen to do too much stretching. I’m sure I will be next week. I was unhooked for an hour in the afternoon and I had a lovely shower and changed pjs and got back into a clean bed. Dinner was in two parts, garlic bread for the start of Friends and carrot soup for when it was over. Tomorrow the Grand National (I think it is a big race) is on and Dad said I’ve to pick a horse, so if anybody has any tips, please let me know. That’s all for this evening. Lots of love Naoise.

  1. Hi Naoise, it's Ciara and Ellen here. It was great that you got to touch your toes yesterday and we hope it won't be long before you are dancing again! We can really recommend Rescue Sleep drops for having a relaxing sleep - maybe you have tried it already? We finished school today for Easter and are looking forward to not getting up early (and so is our Mum!!). Really hope that you get another 5 hour sleep tonight, lots of love Ciara and Ellen xxxxxxxxxxx

  2. Hi Naoise,
Such a pity the sleep spray didn't work, I had high hopes for it. Boo hiss to the steroids and the swollen ankles! When I was 37 weeks pregnant on Caitlin I forgot to put sunscreen on my ankles and got really bad sunburn (probably the only sunny day we had the whole of last summer!). They looked like elephant trunks the next morning and I couldn't walk for a week.

I asked Nana and Grandad did they have any tips for the Grand National, Nana just said to back whichever horse Ruby Walsh is on.

Here's hoping for a better sleep tonight! Take care pet, Paula

  3. Hi Naoise,
Your pics are great. only way to fly - give the airport a miss just straight on and off the plane I like it!!. I think your Nana is right - Ruby Walsh is a good one to go for in the National or you could just look at the colours all the jockeys are wearing and see if anyone has pink - or just pick a lucky number. About 40 horses so hard to pick one but good luck with your bet!!

    Lots of Love

  7. Hi Naoise
Hope you had some luck on the horses today - I only realised we missed it when I read your blog just now....which is a pity because I love betting on it. I usually just go with the nicest horse name, which probably explains why I haven't won since the 1980's!
We had toasted cheese sandwiches here today too. Here's another recipe to try if you are allowed - Ham, cheese & olives (well Jack & Caoimhe like that!)
Not alot of news to report here. Most of all I am thinking about you and just keep hoping you get a much needed good night of sleep. I hope tonight is that night. Lots of love, Aisling

  10. Hi Naoise,
You have me hungry with all that talk of toasted sandwiches! Sorry to hear you aren't sleeping. That's hard going. Greg is making his Holy Communion in three weeks and we had a special mass today in preparation. Some of the kids got to take part in a procession with palms up the church but Greg wasn't lucky enough to get a branch. You'd swear the boys who had the branches had been given gold or something, the others were so envious! We went to Newbridge House today and Luke (3 yrs old) loved all the baby animals especially the baby goats and sheep. We saw a big lazy sow that was very very smelly and he didn't like her one bit! I don't think she liked the look of us either as she left out a big loud grunt at us so we didn't stay with her very long. I visited Bridget on Friday and saw that wonderful painting you did for your Dad on canvas for his birthday. It's really very good. Make sure you put your name on all your paintings (they could be worth a fortune some day). I hope your ankles aren't swolen for too much longer so your exercises are easier to do. We will keep reading your blog. Oh, Ross (who is reading this over my shoulder) says 'Hi' and wants me to finish typing so he can use the computer (cheeky boy).

Sending you heaps and heaps of love
    Margaret,Vincent,Ross,Greg and Luke
