Day +57

Hi All, well today was even worse if that is possible :-(. I got a really high temperature during the night which has lasted all day. I feel really miserable and sad and I really want to go home so much. I didn't feel like eating much at all, I had a ice cream and a cream cracker. The firsts result from my biopsy came back but the full report did come back because it is a public holiday here and no one is working in the lab, its the same on Monday so it will be Tuesday before I get the full results. The first results confirm that I have GVHD in my lower gut, I still have to get the virus results and also need to find out if the stem cell transplant has worked. My rash is really bad and mummy has to put cream all over me four times a day which I really really hate. I got sick today too which hadn't happened ages :-(. I am so tired from being up all night again and am hoping I will sleep tonight and have a better day tomorrow. Lots of Love Naoise xxx

  1. Hi Naoise,

You so deserve a break, I can't believe today was even worse. I can totally understand that you want to come home and forget about the whole experience in Newcastle. Try to keep focused on the end result, and how great recovery will feel.

You were really missed at Aine's party. Aine had a ball but really missed you.

I'm hoping and praying as much as I can that you'll have a better day tomorrow. Please Please god you'll be able to sleep a little, and feel a little happier tomorrow. This is so unfair, that such a pet like you is going through this.

When you reach Dublin soil again, hopping and skiping (with no pains) you will have to write a book about this whole experience. You've shown more strength of character than all the greats put together! I know you are probably sick of everyone telling you but you really are one trooper and I'm so proud to be related to you.

lots of love and best wishes,
    Auntie Nina

  9. Hi Naoise,
Sorry to hear you are not sleeping to well.Hope results of biopsy are clear and the docs can sort you out.Hope you got my texts as i was up country and could follow your blog on my mobile but was unable to comment. One night i was unable to sleep because i heard a strange animal outside my window ,i was afraid to open it in case it jumped in.They told me next morning not to worry he only eats the snakes it turns out it was some sort of a big lizard. It is very hot here noe ,no rain for four months ,we are all waiting for the monsoon rain in June/July so the fields flood and we can plant the rice.
We need about 3/4 inchs depth of water.
Its good that you are going to be out of your room for a day in Holland it will cheer you up a bit.As always you are in my thoughts and prayers.

  14. Hi Naoise
Really really sorry to hear that you are so sick, how unfair!!! I think tomorrow will be a better day for you.
We had a sleepover in our cousins house, my little cousin is so funny, I(Sophie) let him paint my face, he kept saying how pretty he was going to make me look and then when he was finished he said "now you look like a dreadful womans poo" he is hilarious he is only 31/2 but so cute and funny actually he might be in your sister Aines montessori if she goes in belgrove, his name is Oisin.
Bet you will get loads of Easter eggs, I hope you feel well enough to eat them.
Tomorrow will prob be a quiet day in the hospital, so maybe you get a bit of sleep in the day.
    Happy Easter!!!

  17. Hi Naoise

I am so sorry that you're feeling even worse. I'm not surprised that you just want to come home - time always seems to go by so much more slowly when you're not enjoying yourself.

I see that my friend, Aoife, has written on your blog. She has been following your diary ever since I mentioned you to her. She does that Bugsy Malone routine too, and her face is just as expressionate as yours when she dances about!

Will the Easter Bunny visit the hospital today. One of my friends gave me a Cadbury's Creme egg egg (that sounds strange) and my sister very kindly 'helped' me to eat half of it. I'm sure that Aine would be glad to 'help' you to eat your eggs too.

I hope that you'll feel better very soon, and that the doctors will have good news for you on Tuesday.

    Lots of love and hugs

  18. Hi Naoise
You are such a brave girl & I wish all of this could just get better for you. We miss you so much too and are wishing for the day that you are better and can come home. One thing I know is that when you do come home, you will get a welcome at Dublin airport that surpasses that of any celebrity that has landed on Irish soil!
We had a lovely visit from Aine on Friday night when she came for a sleepover. I think though that she would have loved it all the more if you were there. When she got tired she needed her big sis to be around! I see she also loves to colour & draw and make things just like you!
It's a beautiful sunny Easter Sunday here... We are all chocolated-out!! To hear you have had an easier day & night is all we are wishing for here. YOu really deserve a break. Stay strong & know that we are all rooting for you and love you very much.
    Lots of Love, Aisling
