Day +69

Hello, well the big news of today is that I slept from 4.30 this morning until 7.15!! This is the longest I've slept in ages.... still feel really really tired though and was sad all day. I'm missing everyone so much and nothing seems to cheer me up. Some good news though, rash still fading, I only needed oxegen half the night, not going to the loo as much, some of the swelling in my feet is going and I lost a bit of weight today which is good as I'm carrying so much water I had put on loads. I woke up early and then cat napped for a bit, didn't feel like eating at all. Elizabeth the teacher came we did some computer games which was good although I am very shaky at the moment it was hard. Then Amanda came and we are making window flower boxes for my door. Then Daddy and me made some bread, I ate a slice of it which was very nice, thanks Dad! My tummy is giving me a bit of trouble today. After that I had another nap and when I woke up Mum and I did some acrillyic painting. Cos my hands are really shaking badly today and it was hard to paint, Brenda the nurse noticed me shaking and did a test and it turns out I am absorbing too much of my medicine called Tackralimus and so I had double the amount in my body than I should have - yikes :-)! I'm off that medicine for a while now so hopefully the shaking will stop and I'll be able to paint and do things properly. I'm going to try and stay awake for Hells Kitchen but I feel a bit sick and a bit tired so I don't know if I will last. Una and Jimmy, I remember the white flowers Mum got you for Christmas! I really hope you are right and they grow along with my stem cells, I think it is a sign, let me know how they do!! Nite Nite Love Naoise xxx Oh good luck Mary I think the bump is coming out right now.. and good luck tomorrow Eileen on getting rid of your bump!! Love Naoise xxx

  2. Hi Naoise,

Sounds like some good news today about the rash, and the trips to the loo calming down a little. Pity about the shaky hands, but I'm sure that will settle now that they've adjusted your meds.

Really hoping that you get another few hours in a row again tonight.

    lots of love,
    Nina

  3. Hi Naoise,
I'm delighted today has been a bit better, though I can understand that after all you've been through it'll take awhile for you to start to feel a little chirpier. The last few weeks would have made most crumble so pat yourself on the back for doing so well so far. Those great stem cells couldn't have got this far without you so keep up your good team work.
I hope the sleep keeps improving, it'll make all the difference. And there's nothing like homemade bread to cheer the soul, especially when made with your Dad!
What a sharp nurse to check up on the hand-shaking. I'd have just put that down to you being tired or something like that (luckily I'm not looking after you!). You're with a great team, but like you we can't wait for you to be home. It'll happen, stay strong & keep up the good fight & know that we are all rooting for you.
Hope your tummy starts to feel better & that you get another good stretch of sleep.
    Sleep tight
    Lots of love, Aisling

  4. Naoise, such good news! It is great that your rash is improving & that you are not going to the loo so often. That extra sleep will make you stronger & I am sure will encourage your stem cell army to do their best. You have been so very brave and it is natural to feel a bit sad & down when you have had so little sleep. Just think of all the good times ahead and remember as well as your stem cell army you also have an army of friends wishing you well. Love & big hugs & sleep well,Patricia & Niall

  5. Hi Naoise,

So glad you got a good stretch of sleep last night, I hope that it keeps getting better for you! I can so understand you feeling low pet, but as Ais said the past few weeks have been so, so tough, you'd have to be made of stone not to be feeling low. We are all behind you and if good wishes alone could make you better you'd be flying it. I hope it brings some small measure of comfort to know you have so many people thinking of you, praying for you and wishing you well!

I hope you managed to stay awake for Hell's Kitchen, I still haven't managed to catch an episode.

    Night, night pet!

  6. hi Naoise
I'm glad you got some more sleep and I hope you get more. I was just reading a book last night and I saw that it had two Westlife quotes in it and I thought I would send them to you. The quotes are about best advice people got.

Kian Egan Westlife: My mum told me always remember where you came from and treat people as you would like to be treated.

Shane Filan Westlife: Anto Byrne, my tour manager, told me Be nice to people on the way up because you may meet them on the way down.

  10. Dear Naoise,
We know you're exhausted and feeling very sad and we all think you're a real hero that you've been so brave and kept your spirits up through all this. I know I'm a bag of cats without my sleep! Every little thing is a plus so a little more sleep, a little less rash .. its all good. You've got soooo many people following your progress and sending you all their love, thoughts and prayers, keep trying to look forward and think of that day that will come when you're out shopping with your pals, at another westlife concert or having a sleepover and all this is long long in the past.
We hope we'll see a smile on that beautiful face of yours real soon!

  15. Hi Naoise,
So glad your rash is still fading and you slept quite well lately. Great that the swelling in your feet is going down and your not going to the loo as much. That's all very good physical news! So sorry though that you are missing your friends and family so much. That is very hard alright. I hope you cheer up very soon and will be back to your upbeat self shortly. No news from our house really apart from Greg being excited about his 1st Holy Communion on Saturday. The weather forecast is absolutely dreadful for that day which is a big pity! Ross' concert went really well last night in Tallaght (basketball arena). There were over 500 children from dozens of schools singing in harmony. It was beautiful. There were only 10 boys from Ross' school performing but they did really well. I'll let you know how Saturday goes.
    Bye for now Naoise.
    Heaps and heaps of love
Margaret, Vincent, Ross, Greg & Luke

  16. Hi Naoise

I am SOOO pleased that you managed to sleep for a little longer last night. I hope that you will get a good rest tonight too. I had the opposite trouble on Wednesday evening. I decided to go for a nap around 7.30pm before going out to meet some friends. I woke up on Thursday! If I'd slept any longer I would have been late for work!

That's good news about your rash calming down too. I hope that it will get better and better over the next few days.

It was clever and observant of Brenda to realise that your shaking was as a result of your medecine. I hope that lowering your dosage for the next wee while will help you to feel better.

I see that Colleen wrote on your blog. She is so excited about her birthday next week that she ran up to me while I was on yard duty to tell me about it. She didn't mention to you that she ate a green apple today, the skin and all! Do you remember last year, during Food Dudes, how she could hardly bear to eat any fruit or veg?

Your flower box sounds lovely. I hope that you'll be able to post a photo of it when you've finished.

I hope that you'll have a restful weekend, and that you'll feel a bit more cheered up as you get more sleep.

    With love and hugs
    Ms Walshe xx
