Day +73

Hi all, today had good and bad parts, some really good and some really crap. Again I didn’t have much sleep and was up over 20 times, so as you can guess I’m wrecked. Today I had to have another biopsy, which is my 4th biopsy since I came to Newcastle. They don’t get any easier; in fact I hate each and every one of them! The only positive thing today was that it was Sunday and I was supposed to be first on the list, which makes a change from being last on the list. The ambulance came at 9:00 and we were at the RVI by 9:15. I went down to theatre at 11:25 and was back in my room at 12:30, feeling sad and sore. We got back to my own room by 14:00, which was mush better than my previous trips to the RVI. When I came back my room had been cleaned from top to bottom and looked great. My bed was made with my new duvet cover (thanks Audrey and Chrissy). Then Emma arrived. I was delighted to see her as I hadn’t seen any of my friends since the end of January. Emma had to stay outside the room but we have a phone where she could sit on one side and me on the other. It was just brilliant to be able to talk, something so simple but so brilliant. We managed to talk for about 40 mins or so and then I was wrecked. Emma and her mum are staying in Newcastle tonight and Emma is coming in again tomorrow morning. I’ve put a photo of the two of us, it might seem strange talking through a door, but it is my normal. Then I had a rest and Amanda came in for a little while. I had another small rest before catching the 20:00 version of Friends after that I’m going to watch Hells Kitchen. That’s all for tonight. I know I’m going to be up for most of the night as I was all the other times I had a biopsy. Nite, nite, love Naoise. PS to all my class friends, thanks to everybody for the cool cards and presents. I miss you all loads. Also, sorry I haven’t been able to respond to all your mails, I will at some stage, but please keep sending them.

  2. Hi Naoise,

Glad to hear you have that horrible biopsy behind you. Hopefully soon you will get the right meds to tackle that gut problem which is making you feel miserable. If that was sorted hopefully you would then be on the road to recovery.

David's foreign exchange student arrived today. His name is Philip and he is Danish but living in Belgium. His english is excellent (thankfully) and he is a really nice boy. David and Sean are getting on great with him. He had just arrived in the country and we brought him to a Communion Party. There was a bouncy castle, pizzas etc and he had a ball.

It was great for you that you had a chat with Emma and you will see her again tomorrow - thats something to look forward to. Please god tonight wont be as bad as you imagine and hopefully you will go to the land of nod for a couple of hours.. Let us know tomorrow. I will put your new no into my phone and text you soon.

Mind yourself Naoise, chin up things can only get better,

    Lots and lots of love,

    Nuala, matt and boys xxxxxxxxxx

  3. Hi Naoise,

Was thinking about you from early this morning, knowing you were facing a really rough day and I was delighted to get the text at lunch time to say you were back and all. A big improvement from the last times.

I can only imagine how sad you are feeling and how much you miss everyone. It must have been lovely to chat with Emma today, I love the photo!

I was getting dressed this morning and bent my finger right back fixing my leggings, didn't even hurt that much at first, but then I looked at my finger and from the top joint on it was totally bent back the wrong way, it looks disgusting I can't even look at it. So I had to go for an x-ray, turns out I've torn the ligiment right off and have to go for surgery tomorrow I think, what an idiot. It's one of those freak accidents, I wish I just put my jeans on and all would be well. It's a bit of a challenge minding my gang with 1 hand, but sure could be a lot worse.

I really hope tonight is not as bad as you are expecting and that they can move forward with trying to sort your gut out.

    Lots of love,

    Nina

  4. Hi Naoise!

That is a lovely photo of you and your friend Emma. It must be so nice to have her over visiting you! I hope that you slept ok last night and that you will have lots of energy to talk to Emma on the phone. Last night I woke up at 5am and couldn't get back to sleep and it was really annoying!! I was going crazy in my bed, so I can't even imagine what it must be like waking up 20 times per night!!
    Have a lovely day!
    Love from France...Emma (chrissie's friend)

  7. Hi Naoise honey,
That is a lovely photo of you and Emma. It must of been great to catch up with her and it is lovely that you will get to see her again today. Glad to hear the biopsy went quicker than previous times. I am sorry that you had another tough night. Hopefully when the doctors get the results they will be able to give you new medicine to help mend your gut. I can totally understand you feeling low and missing everyone, you have been having such a tough time and believe me we are all missing you too.

Glad to hear your room was all clean when you came back and you have your new duvet on your bed, I always love it when it is clean sheet day, hopefully it will help give you a better night sleep.

Well it looks like Kiel does not have a future in fortune telling as the baby did not arrive in time for breakie on saturday morning as he had predicted and we are still waiting for Taylor no.2 to arrive. I think this baby is making a point from early that it is its own person and just because Kiel was very punctual does not mean it will be and will come when it is ready!! But hopefully that will be soon enough cause I am bored of my yoga ball and raseberry tea.
    Thinking of you lots,
    Love,
    Audy

  10. Hi Naoise,
Sorry you had to have another biopsy which left you feeling 'sad and sore' but we're delighted you had Emma in today and will see her again tomorrow. I'm sure you two had loads to catch up on. There is nothing like a chat with a good friend for cheering a person up! That's great how your room was all cleaned up and fresh when you came back from RVI (well deserved). Well Greg made his Communion on Saturday. The day started off very wet and we were all under unbrellas at the church but it brightened up really well once we got back to the house so Greg his brothers and cousins were able to play in the garden for hours which was wonderful. We didn't bring Luke to the church as he's a bit impatient in church if the mass is long so he played at our neighbours house 'till we got back. Luke wore a shirt and tie and felt a bit funny in it to begin with but got used to it and even liked it in the end. Greg felt very important in his suit and he and the other Communion boys looked very well. He got a half day today and photos were taken at the school. It's back to normal for him now tomorrow. We hope you manange to get some rest tonight and won't be as sore tomorrow. Enjoy seeing Emma again in the morning! I'll write again soon.

    Bye for now Naoise.
    Lots and lots of love
Margaret, Vincent, Ross, Greg and Luke

  11. Hi Naoise,

Hope you are feeling a bit better after the tough time you have been going through. Please God you have started to get a bit more sleep and aren't as sore now. I'm sure seeing your friend brightened up things a good bit.

I was laughing at Audi speaking about baby Taylor making her wait. My little boy David was told me her baby is coming tomorrow. I had said today (there's still time yet!)

Still rooting for you every day and you are never out of my mind.

    God bless,

    Niamh and David x
